PERMANENT MAKEUP

Permanent Makeup
What is permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup (PMU) is the implantation of pigment in the second top layer of the skin using various tattooing methods and specially made fine micro-needles. PMU is a semi-permanent cosmetic application to create long lasting enhancements to the face, including eyebrows, lips, and eyeliner.

Who is a good candidate for permanent makeup?
Every client is different. Pain tolerance varies from client to client. Most clients describe the pain level as being very minimal. We want our clients to feel the utmost comfort. We use the best topical lidocaine cream available to minimize any discomfort. This is still a tattoo, most clients may still feel some type of discomfort.

Who is a good candidate for permanent makeup?
PMU can be a great option for a variety of people, including:
- People who want to enhance their natural beauty
- People who have slight asymmetrical features like their eyebrows or lips
- People who have lost their hair from over plucking, chemo, or alopecia
- People wwith dexterity-related conditions (such as arthritis, Parkinson's diseases, stroke survivors, etc.)
- People with vision issues
- People with skin sensitivities or allergies to makeup
- People who are active, but still want to look their best without worrying about sweating off their makeup
- People who don't have time or just don't want to have to apply their makeup every day
All of these are great candidates who can benefit from PMU.

What is the healing process?
Slight swelling and tenderness are both normal to experience after the procedure. The color/shade of the treated area will appear darker, bolder, and sharper initially. This can be difficult at first for some clients who never wear makeup, due to it being more intense than what they are used to. However, this only lasts for 2-5 days and as the healing continues, the pigment will soften and fade 30-40%. The full healing process takes around 7-10 days. Your healing is only about 50% in our control, the rest is up to you with being diligent in following the post-care instructions. Lastly, the first time around is never 100% perfect and that is why a touch up session is necessary to ensure the most satisfactory results.

How long do the results last?
This varies by client. Again, this is where diligently following the post-care instructions is paramount to ensure the best results. Most procedure results should last 12-24 months before becoming pretty faded, with 18 months being the average. Certain factors play a big part in the longevity of cosmetic tattoos. For example, getting a lot of sun exposure, using tanning beds, getting chemicals peels, having oily skin, etc. all cause the rate of fading to be increased. Generally, we recommend getting one touch up a year to keep everything looking fresh. Getting touch ups more often can likely increase the risk of scar tissue and blurring, creating an unnatural look.
